Residential

Located in the Hyndburn area of East Lancashire, ‘Stanley House’ is our first residential service offering placements to young people between the ages of 7 and 18. We can accomodate up to three young people and offer en-suite bedrooms; a modern and homely environment; and a sound-proofed music studio external to the home.

We believe music as an intervention can be utilised in numerous accommodating approaches for reflection (managing/ processing negative emotions and life experiences); as a disruptor to a build-up of negative emotions; or as short-term release enabling coping strategies, along with positive social interactions to reinforce relationships. We believe there are many benefits of music therapy as a way to increase self-esteem, address challenging behaviours, motivate learning, and develop interpersonal relationships. We believe that young people who find any verbal communication difficult, other than beyond a defensive and often aggressive language, can find communicating through music easier. Making music enables them to articulate their fluctuating moods and creates a relaxed and fun environment and an incentive to invest.

Given the age variance outlined in our Statement of Purpose (available upon request), serious consideration is taken when placement matching to ensure balanced and compatible placements, and that robust risk assessments are in place and reviewed regularly.

… We hope to bring more positive change to the social care sector in the coming months in opening an LGBTQ residential provision and mentoring service, the first of its kind in the North West. This service will offer specialist, accredited training around increasing knowledge and confidence of LGBTQ inclusion at home, at work and in the community. We also hope to promote awareness around LGBTQ health inequalities, access and signposting.
